Temporary admission of goods
Bringing goods in for a defined purpose and period — exhibitions, projects, testing or repair — with duty suspended against a guarantee.
- Who it is for
- Project owners, exhibitors, contractors
- Steps
- 4
- Indicative duration
- 5–10 business days for approval
How it works
Step 1: Submit the temporary admission request
State the purpose, the period requested and the intended place of use, with a detailed list of the goods, serial numbers and values.
- Applicant
Step 2: Lodge the guarantee
Provide a bank guarantee or cash deposit covering the suspended duty and tax. The instrument must remain valid for the whole admission period.
- Applicant
Step 3: Clear the goods under suspension
Lodge a declaration referencing the approval. The goods are released without payment, and their identity is recorded so they can be matched on exit.
- Applicant or broker
Step 4: Re-export or regularise before expiry
Re-export the goods before the period ends, or apply to extend, or pay the duty to place them in free circulation. Overstaying attracts penalty.
- Applicant
Apply for an extension at least ten days before expiry.
Before you start
- A defined, verifiable purpose and period
- Goods identifiable on re-export
- A valid guarantee for the full period
