Moving goods under customs transit

How it works

   Step 1: Apply for a transit authorisation

   Lodge a transit declaration naming the office of departure, the office of destination and the route. Provide a guarantee covering the duty at risk.

   Step 2: Sealing at the office of departure

   Customs applies seals to the load compartment and records the seal numbers on the transit document.

   Step 3: Move within the transit period

   Follow the approved route and present the goods at the office of destination before the transit period expires. Report any seal damage or diversion immediately.

   Step 4: Discharge and release of the guarantee

   The office of destination verifies the seals, discharges the transit and releases the guarantee. The goods are then cleared or warehoused locally.
